With the events of The Walking Dead’s sixth season on AMC, fans were worried that the show was moving too fast and would catch up to the comic book stories.

Season 6 of The Walking Dead was an insane time. The show packed a lot of the action and excitement from the comic book series into those 16 episodes, essentially catching up to the events in issue #100 of the comic book series. Because of that, some fans were worried that the show would eventually catch up to or surpass the comics in the timeline.

In issue #154 of the comic book series, there is a question and answer session at the end where fans can write in and ask the folks from Skybound anything. One such question asked about the timeline between the show and the comics. Here is what the inquisitive fan was wondering:

"“What the heck is gonna happen when the show is caught up to the comics because that is happening very quickly!?”"

Th explanation from Skybound makes a lot of sense. Not only do they explain the big jump during the end of season 6 of AMC’s hit show, but they explain why the big jump in time could be a good then when adding more material for future episodes.

More from Undead Walking

"“I can see how going from #75 to #100 in eight episodes may cause some concern. But the show does double back on the comic from time to time, like presenting the Billy and Ben plot in a new way. Plus, we’re still 54 issues ahead … or really, 54 and a half, since the cliffhanger interrupted the events of #100.”"

To put things in perspective. Skybound explained that 100 issues being covered in the comics up to this time is a good thing, as is proves that the comics will always stay a little ahead of the hit AMC show.

"“Look at it this way … it took us 6 seasons to get to 100. It won’t take us 6 years to get to 200 and that will take us to season … TWELVE. And we’ll still be ahead of the show at that point. And if the show is still going strong at season 12 … well, that would be about the most amazing thing ever … so we’ll all be too busy celebrating to worry about anything.”"
