October is still a summer away, but for those organized fans of The Walking Dead, we have a very important date to add to your calendars.

Season 6 is still stinging. Many fans are still trying to hold on to their indignation about the cliffhanger. Others are trying desperately to DaVinci code their way to figuring out the victim of Negan’s kill. Still others are trying to pretend it doesn’t matter and they don’t care.

The stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. By the time the fireworks are lighting up the sky and Comic Con trailers are misdirecting us once again, we should all be near acceptance and craving the interviews from San Diego.

Many news sources are reporting that October 9th is the date for the return of The Walking Dead. It seems to me that it’s not terribly official, but it makes complete sense. The season premieres usually land around Columbus day.

So mark your calendar for Sunday, October 9, 2016 as the date to find out who Lucille made friends with in that line up. Once we find out the answer to that question, the story will really just be getting started.

With a date to use, people can start using those nifty countdown apps and start giving us posts on Facebook and Twitter about the number of days, hours and minutes that remain until The Walking Dead returns!
