Chris Daughtry is a huge fan of The Walking Dead. He’s such a huge fan that he wants to be on the show and has auditioned for parts already in hopes to do just that.

Chris Daughtry is famous for creating a successful music career from his fourth place finish on season 5 of American Idol 10 years ago. He’s one of scores of celebrities who are serious fans of The Walking Dead.

We’ve seen loads of mega fans on the Talking Dead couch over the years with Chris Hardwick dissecting the show. A few have even become walkers on the show.

Chris Daughtry has gone a bit further by auditioning for actual character roles. According to Music Times, Daughtry has always wanted to be an actor.

"I’ve wanted to be an actor since I was a little kid, way before I picked up a guitar. I moved to L.A. because I wanted to dive into acting, and I’d booked a pilot for FOX with Heather Graham and Eric McCormick. It was so cool, I was so pumped, but it didn’t get picked up."

Daughtry auditioned for Dwight in The Walking Dead.

"Honestly I’ve been lobbying for The Walking Dead. I’ve been auditioning for the last season. You know the stringy blonde-haired dude with the half burnt face? That was the role that I auditioned for. We hate him, so maybe it’s a good thing I didn’t get him because I’ll have a more beloved role."

If Daughtry doesn’t get a role on the show, he would be a great guest on Talking Dead. He sounds like a super fan of the show.

"But that show is like – I watch all the superhero shows, but I can skip a day. I can DVR it and watch to next week. I cannot do that with The Walking Dead. It’s the only show I have to watch when it’s on. I can’t wait an hour. It’s me and my wife’s favorite, second favorite moment in bed. But yeah that show is consuming my life to the point where I’m spending hours developing theories on who got killed, and rewatching the finale to pick up little clues."

What do you think of Chris as a potential character on The Walking Dead? I haven’t seen him as an actor so I don’t have a good opinion yet. I trust the show though. They are excellent with casting, They wouldn’t do anything that would bring you out of the show because of a distraction or bad acting.

If they use Daughtry at some point it will be appropriate. It might be more short-lived than he would like though such as a character like Carter or Ethan or more of a background character.
