Without notice, Cinemax made episode 1 of Outcast, titled “A Darkness Surrounds Him” available online through many of their social media sites. Of course, the easiest way to watch is on their YouTube channels, as all 55:02 of the episode is able to be viewed.

Here is Episode 101 of Cinemax’s new series Outcast titled “A Darkness Surrounds Him” from creator Robert Kirkman from the official Cinemax YouTube account:

From the opening credits, it is easy to tell that this is a Robert Kirkman story. The cast and crew names are shown in a way very similar to AMC’s zombie survival drama The Walking Dead. However, things get a very different feel when the first scene hits.

When the boy is seen staring at a bug on the wall, the tone is set. Not only is this series meant to make you interested in why the characters are doing the things they are doing, but the things that they actually do can make you surprised or even grossed out.

Because this is Cinemax, and not AMC, Robert Kirkman’s Outcast can push more buttons than they can on shows like The Walking Dead. However, those boundaries didn’t seem to be tested during episode 1, as “A Darkness Surrounds Him” instead looks to set the mood for the series rather than push the envelope.
