Fear The Walking Dead: Ofelia actress Mercedes Mason hosting contest for charity

You are probably familiar with the pets of many actors in The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead universes. There is Norman Reedus’ cat, Eye In The Dark, who is quite well known, so much that a fan started a Twitter handle posing as the famous cat. Alicia Witt often posts adorable photos and captions with her dog Ernest with the hashtag #theimportanceofbeingErnest. And Justin Kucsulain’s greyhound rescue, Gigi, has her own Instagram account.

But have you met Mercedes Mason’s adorable dog, Wedgie? What a cutie! And she is able to capture the most amusing poses from him on her Twitter.

Mercedes has decided with the help of friend Ashley to use Wedgie’s cuteness to benefit charity. The two friends are hosting a t-shirt design contest. Entrants are tasked with submitting a cute and clever design with Wedgie’s photo. The winner’s design will be made into a t-shirt that will go on sale. All proceeds from the shirt will go to charity. The specific charity has not yet been named.

The contest winner will also receive an item autographed by Mercedes Mason. That’s a very cool incentive to get your artistic minds churning, let alone being able to make a charitable contribution to the world.

Specific rules for the contest have been tweeted. Contest closes July 10th. There are a whole host of cute Wedgie photos to choose from, but Mercedes suggested a particular one in a post last week.

Mercedes certainly seems to be a fun gal who enjoys all things cute and cuddly. She has also been known to use Persicope to broadcast fun moments, often ones with her Fear The Walking Dead cast mates. Thanks, Mercedes, for giving us a glimpse into your happy moments!

Unfortunately, Mercedes’ Fear The Walking Dead character, Ofelia Salazar, is not so happy at the moment. Sure, she has had some flirty interactions with Nick Clark. But most recently, her father was taken prisoner.  And unbeknownst to Ofelia, Daniel set fire to Celia’s zombie wine cellar, one that may have consumed him as well.  We will have to wait until the mid-season premiere to find out more.
