The Walking Dead season 1 marathon set for July 3rd
By Susie Graham
It’s not a full-fledged Dead, White and Blue Marathon, but it’s something! Season 1 of The Walking Dead will show on AMC in a double-feature mini-marathon on July 3rd.
Gone are the days of multi-day, multi-season summer marathons called Dead, White and Blue. We used to be able to come home from work or come in from the pool, fireworks or s’more making and have The Walking Dead on any time day or night all through Independence day time.
We still have some of those long marathons in the winter, but I think with the growing number of seasons now and the new summer shows, AMC is trying new things for 4th of July. Jaws movies are showing on the night of the 4th when many folks will be out at fireworks celebrations.
The Preacher and Ride with Norman Reedus are showing at other times around the holiday. But on the 3rd, we get a mini marathon of season 1 of The Walking Dead! We go back to the beginning.

For early birds, season 1 runs from 7 am EDT to 1:30 pm EDT. Then it starts again for afternoon people and finishes at 8 pm EDT, just in time for any towns who run fireworks on the night before the 4th.
If you have any friends you’ve been trying to get hooked on The Walking Dead, here’s your chance. A one-day investment whIle hanging out with friends and enjoying the summer weather and maybe a hotdog and potato salad.
They’ll have plenty of time after you have them hooked to get caught up through season 6 and wonder about Lucille’s victim right along with you until October.
There will likely be a few more mini-marathons or weekend marathons to help us get ready for season 7, pumpkins, colorful leaves, sweatshirts and cool temperatures.
But as much as we want October to be here to relieve our walker withdrawals, let’s enjoy summer, which just started today. Focus on sunshine, flowers, green grass, sprinklers and fireworks. We have a season 1 marathon to help us. And Comic Con in San Diego will bring us a trailer and interviews and other excitement!
