Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, has three popular tv shows under his belt, but his favorite show on television is quite surprising.

Death and despair. These seem to be the things Robert Kirkman focuses on with his popular television shows The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead and Outcast. However. when it comes time to watch some tv for himself, he doesn’t choose to watch any of that.

According to a Reddit AMA, Kirkman likes to relax and let out some laughs. Fans were encouraged to ask the mind behind the great comics and tv shows anything they wanted, and while some fans went awkward and obscure, others just wanted to get to know more about the man himself.

An individual was struggling with the downtime between zombie survival horror shows and asked Robert Kirkman for something to watch until The Walking Dead comes back from its season-ending break. Kirkman’s answer was more than excited, as he said the cartoon Rick and Morty is “the BEST THING BEING MADE THESE DAYS.”

Not only that, but The Walking Dead‘s creator is working with the folks from Cartoon Network’s Robot Chicken on an upcoming episode to feature the zombie survival drama. While Kirkman is excited about that as well, he can’t keep his mind off Rick and Morty. “I’d be more excited if I got to watch Rick and Morty season 3 earlier because of it,” Kirkman said in the Reddit AMA.

As Kirman said, Rick and Morty will kick off their third season soon. In fact, Cartoon Network will be starting the new episodes on July 26. 2016. The program currently has a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9.3/10 on IMDB, both of which are extremely impressive considering how fickle fans can be these days.

For those unfamiliar with Rick and Morty, here is a little background on the program from Wikipedia:

"“After having been missing for nearly 20 years, Rick Sanchez suddenly arrives at daughter Beth’s doorstep to move in with her and her family. Although Beth welcomes Rick into her home, her husband, Jerry, isn’t as happy about the family reunion. Jerry is concerned about Rick, a sociopathic scientist, using the garage as his personal laboratory. In the lab, Rick works on a number of sci-fi gadgets, some of which could be considered dangerous. But that’s not all Rick does that concerns Jerry. He also goes on adventures across the universe that often involve his grandchildren, Morty and Summer.”"

If that sounds confusing, that’s because it kind of is. Just think of it as a cartoon inspired by Back to the Future with more of the funny science and one-liners, including catchy songs.

Fans can watch Rick and Morty this July, however The Walking Dead won’t return until October for season 7 and Fear The Walking Dead will be on midseason break until August. But, in the meantime, Robert Kirkman’s show Outcast on Cinemax is a great way to pass the time and scare yourself silly in the process.
