The Walking Dead: Greg Nicotero directs season 7 premiere

Executive producer Greg Nicotero has confirmed that he is the director of the season 7 premiere of AMC’s hit zombie survival drama program The Walking Dead.
Levels of excitement regarding season 7 of The Walking Dead continue to grow with Comic Con coming up in less than a week. At the event in San Diego, it is expected that the new episode will get a premiere date and a new trailer will be presented to fans.

However. fans of AMC’s hit zombie show are always looking for more information on their favorite show about the undead apocalypse. Comicbook.com is one of those sites that will everything they can to get information for fans, and recently they sat down with executive producer and special effects master Greg Nicotero.
Nicotero has been at the helm of many major episodes of The Walking Dead in the past. He has directed several of the biggest installments of the show in history, including action packed and emotional episodes like “Not Tomorrow Yet”, “No Way Out”, “First Time Again”, “Conquer”, “No Sanctuary”, and “Judge, Jury, Executioner”.
In that interview, Nicotero revealed that he was tasked with directing what will be an episode that changes everything in the universe of The Walking Dead, the season 7 premiere. And, according to the director himself, creating that episode was emotionally and physically draining for everyone involved.
"“It was the hardest two weeks of my life,” Nicotero says. “You take these actors and you drag them. You illicit the deepest, darkest fears that they’ve ever had because our actors, they’re f—ing in it. So, you spend two weeks taking them to this place and it’s horrific. You do it, over and over again for nine days and when it’s over, you feel like you’ve just witnessed the most emotional things that they could drench up.”"
If that sounds like an exhausting day of acting, that’s because it is. In fact, many programs don’t ever have moments this intense or talked about during their entire series run. However, Nicotero wants to make sure that this episode is a real treat for fans, and had his cast and crew do multiple takes from multiple angles.
"“They did it. And then I ask them to do it again and then again and then we’re gonna change angle and do it again.”"

The Walking Dead will return for season 7 in October of 2016 when it will be revealed who Negan killed in the season 6 finale. This should only be a jumping off point in the major battle between Rick’s group and The Saviors, which will be a major theme of the upcoming season.
