Fox International Facebook Live with The Walking Dead cast at Comic-Con

Yvette Nicole Brown moderated a panel for press by Fox International with The Walking Dead cast and producers this morning at San Diego International Comic Con that was broadcast on Facebook Live.
While we’re waiting patiently for the big panel in Hall H and the season 7 trailer, we were treated to a Facebook Live panel from Fox International with the cast and producers of The Walking Dead moderated by super fan Yvette Nicole Brown.
It was great to see so many of the cast together. There were so many different cast members than last year. It’s nice to have a variety of perspectives.
Josh McDermitt was pleased to see Eugene make some sacrifices and step up in a new way in season 6. He talked about his confidence growing and how Eugene represents what most of us would be in a real apocalypse situation. I like that. Eugene does represent that.
Most of us would need some protection from others and some help. We wouldn’t all be leaders or confident. We wouldn’t be amazing fighters right away. But we wouldn’t want to feel belittled.

Andy talked about how Rick is in a desperate position and that everything he thought has changed. Chandler made a funny remark about how Carl has resented Negan from way before he met him, unlike Andy. I’m not sure what he meant by that. Perhaps that Carl saw Negan as the threat he is and wasn’t as overconfident as Rick. Andrew said he needed to “put that kid on a leash!”
The group was all very complimentary about each other and the commitment to the acting and to supporting each other on set. They all stayed for each other during the line-up scene even when they weren’t on camera. Yvette said it’s not always that way in shows; sometimes you’re acting with a tennis ball on a piece of tape.

Josh McDermitt chimed in that it’s not just for that finale that they did that. He said that’s how they always work. They always show up for each other and support each other during filming. Greg Nicotero also commented about how 7 years into the show, they all show up like is the first day of work.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan was a new guest at Comic-Con for The Walking Dead and Negan was a big topic. Morgan teased that Robert likes Negan to talk so Jeffrey doesn’t sleep so he can memorize all the dialogue or he puts post-its on Andy’s face.
Many of the cast talked about how Negan draws you in even though he does terrible things. Lauren Cohan said that listening to him even when she was on her knees it was almost like she could see that he’s just trying to get you on board with what he’s saying. Danai said that the rules he brings to the table are horribly logical and complex.

Robert Kirkman confirmed that Negan is warm and engaging and you just want to hear him talk even though he does terrible things. That reminds me of Hannibal Lector from Silence of the Lambs. He was a horrible person, but his speeches drew you in.
Not much longer to wait for the trailer and the panel and all of the other great things that should be coming out of Comic-Con in the next several hours!
