Fear The Walking Dead: Danay Garcia’s role in 2B revealed

It was a surprise when Danay Garcia’s name was added to the panelists for Fear The Walking Dead at Comic Con, but her role on the show has been revealed.
Who the heck is Danay Garcia? That was the question many fans had when they looked over the list of panelists who would be representing AMC’s hit zombie drama Fear The Walking Dead at San Diego Comic Con International. With her never appearing on the show, it was a question of what her relationship with Kirkman’s program is.

That question was answered when Garcia took the stage for Comic Con. As reported by Nerdist.com, she will be a character that will appear during the second half of Fear The Walking Dead’s second season.
Her character will be named Luciana. Described as a “badass soldier” who lives just outside Tijuana, Mexico in a community called La Colonia.
Things are interesting in La Colonia. Unlike Madison, they believe that the zombies are not entirely monsters. However, they don’t quite think of the walking dead in the same way Celia did either.

During the Comic Con panel, Danay Garcia spoke of her research for the role of Luciana. She said she studied up on Mexican culture, particularly their beliefs when it comes to the dead. She found their three stages of death to be fascinating. Believing a person is not dead until they are fully forgotten rather than when they die or are buried is something that has already been explored a bit on Fear The Walking Dead.
It will be intriguing to watch her and her interactions with Nick during the second half of season 2. Garcia said that her character will test Nick in ways we’ve never seen before on the show, and that could be one of the most interesting dynamics to watch as the show continues moving forward.
To finish out the panel, a young fan asked all the guests on hand how they would die on the show if they could choose their character’s death. Garcia said she’s like to die while dancing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance…which was made even better when Colman Domingo was shown in the gag reel doing a sweet moonwalk!

Fear The Walking Dead has a return date of August 21, 2016 for the second half of season 2. During these episodes, we’ll get to meet Danay Garcia’s character Luciana as well as the community of La Colonia. If the second half the season 2 is anywhere near as great as that trailer, fans should be in for a big treat when the record-breaking AMC show comes back with new episodes.
