Fear the Walking Dead: Expect more Day of the Dead imagery

The poster for the second half of season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead contains a beautiful calavera (skull) image. Expect more Day of the Dead imagery.
As part of the Mexican holiday of Day of the Dead, Día de Los Muertos, we find beautiful skull and skeleton art and imagery. The holiday represents so much of the cultural attitude toward death that differs greatly from that of many other places.
Death is not to be feared if we live a good life. It is part of the circle of life, death and the afterlife. If we expect to go to heaven, then we shouldn’t have fear. We will be reunited with our loved ones and on Day of the Dead, our loved ones come back to visit with us.
Of course, faith and belief doesn’t mean that people can avoid fear and sadness. But culturally, the Mexican people don’t avoid the subject. They talk about it, they even mock it.

Fear the Walking Dead’s decision to take place in Mexico opens up interesting doors into the death that zombies themselves have explored. Mexicans and how they might deal with the zombies, considering their cultural views and their superstitions, mixed with the concept of a zombie, offers fascinating potential in storytelling.
At the Fear the Walking Dead panel, one of the audience members asked a question about Day of the Dead imagery and how much we can expect to see, considering the poster. Robert KIrkman and Dave Erickson gave it a numerical possibility of between 7 and 8.
