Norman Reedus talks about the complete change of power in season 7 of The Walking Dead and how that affects the characters differently.

We are preparing for a complete shift in power on season 7 of The Walking Dead. All signs everywhere are pointing to it. The world belongs to Negan now. Everything and everyone is telling us so.

The finale was about breaking down our group and any shred of confidence Rick and any of our characters had that they knew what this world was about and that they could handle whatever came their way.

They ended up on their knees in front of this terrifying, exciting, gregarious villain, who has hundreds of people backing him up.

Norman Reedus spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how this comic book star will affect everyone and everything we know in the world of The Walking Dead when the show returns in October:

"I mean, it’s a brand new world right now. It’s a complete change of power. Our whole world has been turned upside down, and that group of people have been fighting to have their feet firmly on the ground and have some sort of direction to live in and some sort of code to live by and moral compass, and they thought they were doing it okay, you know? It was hard, and they had to go through things all the time, but they were on a path, and now that path has been ripped from their feet, and things that they believe in are completely different now. The world is completely turned upside down.It affects the group completely differently. You know, everyone, it affects them differently. Some relinquish power. Some accept it. Some fight it. There are people questioning it. There are people pointing their fingers. There are people blaming themselves. Other things happen that completely destroy people. The group is completely broken apart at this point. Negan has come in and completely shaken up everything. Loyalties are broken, belief in one another, belief in ourselves. Each individual is completely broken, and they don’t all handle it the exact same way."

We’ve seen our characters broken before, but usually they are broken at different times with others there to support them. It will be interesting to find out which characters are which in the descriptions that Norman gives here.

Who will come out on the other side? And how long will that take?

Negan may just be what The Walking Dead needs to propel the show into new territory. I know I’m in! It’s at this point that I often lose interest in shows that I loved: House, Roseanne, Castle, Seinfeld, etc. I still loved them, I just fizzled. I don’t know why. But I’m still fully invested in The Walking Dead!
