The Walking Dead actress Kyla Kenedy can be seen in a new role in the upcoming comedy Speechless with Minnie Driver, coming to Wednesday nights on ABC.

AMC’s The Walking Dead has been a great jumping off point for the career of many actors. Even if their characters don’t have a very long run on the show, doors seem to open for those who appear on the zombie survival drama.

Another great example of this success is Kyla Kenedy. Known as Mika Samuels on The Walking Dead, she hosted a fantastic web series called Down ‘N Dirty on YouTube which allowed her to show off her humorous side. Now, that same comic ability will be on display in a primetime ABC comedy.

Speechless will be part of the Wednesday block of primetime shows on ABC and features a talented cast including Minnie Driver, Mason Cook and John Ross Bowie. The show will center around a non-verbal child played by Michael Fowler as the DiMeo family attempts to live everyday life.

In a recent interview with The Fresno Bee, Kyla Kenedy talked about her role as Dylan DiMeo in the upcoming show Speechless and how families can relate to it the characters.

"“ I definitely think that any kid wants a lot of attention from their parent, but I definitely think that we kind of understand in the show also. I mean, I know Dylan personally really looks up to her mother and definitely tries to imitate her in many, many ways. When you are kind of raised that way and you kind of know how it is, you do want more attention.”"

Not only is it the attention the parents pay to the children in the family, but Kenedy sees the comedy as also being a show that focuses on the challenges of growing up and creating connections with parents.

"“But I also think that we kind of understand in a way, but it is kind of hard sometimes, I guess, for us. But I definitely think Dylan tries to imitate Maya to kind of be like her and to get really close with her.”"
