Talking Dead: The Walking Dead Season 7 Preview Special Recap
By Susie Graham
Austin Amelio and Yvette Nicole Brown joined Chris Hardwick on Talking Dead to discuss the end of season 6 and the return of season 7 of The Walking Dead.
Chris Hardwick hosted Talking Dead: The Season 7 Preview Special with Yvette and Austin on the couch. Other cast members gave comments in video interview clips.
Chris Hardwick talked about the fans of the show. Whether you like or hate things on the show, the fans are passionate and they care. Vibe at Comic-Con was really great.
Yvette talked about how the actors have such a hard time with talking and answering questions about what they’ve been doing or where they’ve been because everything they say gets interpreted related to if they are alive or dead on the show so they have to be so cautious.
All that’s aired for Jeffrey Dean Morgan is 12 minutes and he compares his Comic-Con experience to The Beatles. He talked about the care that the show takes with the fans.
Yvette called Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan magical casting. She’s listening. She is interested in his story. She hated The Governor and The Termites and The Wolves in such a way that she wasn’t interested in what they had to say.
Amazing. Scary. Mesmerizing. Those are the words Austin Amelio used to describe Negan on set. He called him a Willy Wonka. Austin considers Dwight to be moving up in the Saviors organization.

Chris forced Yvette to consider who Negan should take out if she were thinking strategically as Negan. Yvette said perhaps Michonne or Carl because that would debilitate Rick. However, she did say that she hasn’t speculated about it.
As an acting choice, she complimented Michael Cudlitz for straightening up when Negan came to him with the bat. She commented that if he is the one who goes, he going like a boss by saying with his body language to bring it on.

Melissa McBride is excited for fans to meet Ezekiel and Shiva. Lennie James talked about how Morgan gets to meet people as Morgan in The Kingdom without Rick looking over his shoulder and how Morgan smiles in The Kingdom.
Lennie James called Melissa McBride a dame and Melissa called Lennie James a Popsicle on a hot day. They seem to love working together. Lennie suggested that every actor on the set would say Melissa McBride is their favorite person to work with on the show.
Dwight hadn’t seen the show before he started working on the show. He had to binge watch with wifi at his neighbor’s house. Once he was hooked up with the wifi and password, the neighbor asked which show. When he said The Walking Dead, the neighbor got really excited and said, “It’s not about the zombies; it’s about the people,” and left him to watch the show.
Austin called the mood on the set very heavy for the finale and the premiere.
Tom Payne talked about training for season 7 with boxing and martial arts. Yvette said she doesn’t trust Jesus. She thinks he knew that Negan and his group is more formidable than he let on. Chris Hardwick likes him and thinks he’s a good guy. (So do I.)
