Talking Dead Recap: Fear the Walking Dead Episode 208-Grotesque
By Susie Graham
Talking Dead resumed as expected right after the season 2 midseason premiere of Fear the Walking Dead with 3 appropriate guests to discuss the show.
Executive producer Dave Erickson, Kim Dickens and new addition to the cast Danay Garcia joined newlywed Chris Hardwick in the loft for the therapy session about the mid-season premiere of Fear the Walking Dead as we returned to Mexico to kick of the final 8 episodes of season 2 although they pre-taped the episode to accomodate Chris’ wedding.
Kim Dickens enjoyed watching this episode as a fan. She talked about her admiration for Nick and Frank Dillane.
Danay Garcia is from Cuba and talked about how she researched Mexican culture about Day of the Dead and the views of the Mexican culture about death as well as adjusted her accent a bit for the role of Luciana. Dave Erickson talked about all kinds of research that had to be done regarding urine drinking and cactus eating and such things.
Frank Dillane left a hilarious video message from his mum’s house in England saying hello to Chris and hello to everyone on the sofa and hoping that we enjoy the episode, this season and the season after next and the season after next and the season after next (repeated quite a few times).
Dave Erickson said that he enjoys that Frank is really tough, wants to examine every scene and be honest. Cliff Curtis gave a little behind-the-scenes clip and talked about how funny it was that everyone talked about Nick not changing clothes, but Frank did some research about refugees and that often when they have few belongings left, they get attached to certain clothes or shoes.
Tobias’ character was brought up. Dave said to never say never, but they are no longer in Los Angeles and it’s a bit hard to justify Tobias showing up in Mexico right now. Speaking of right now, right now is about 2 months after the start of the apocalypse. They didn’t say it, but I will, Rick is just now waking up in the hospital.
Alejandro is a pharmacist and the local doctor and has created the community of La Colonia where Luciana and her scouts came from. According to Erickson, some new bad guys are headed to La Colonia to in the next few episodes.
Loss of his dad and the loss of Gloria were the reasons for the flashbacks according to Erickson, because he’s searching for a father figure in Strand and now the doctor and in perhaps other characters like Ofelia, but now Luciana.
KIm Dickens, Ethan Embry and Colman Domingo join Talking Dead next week on what looks to be a crazy time at La Colonia when the already sick are fed to the walkers as protection or sacrifice.
