Fear The Walking Dead episode 208: ‘Open Fire’ scene
By Adam Carlson
Nick Clark was the focus of episode 208 of Fear The Walking Dead, titled ‘Grotesque’, but the scene ‘Open Fire’ has fans talking about his survival skills.
Fear The Walking Dead continued the story of the survivors in Mexico during the season 2 midseason premiere which aired on Sunday, August 21, 2016. The episode, titled “Grotesque”, was number 208 in the series and focused on Nick Clark’s journey toward Tijuana.
Each week, AMC chooses one scene from new episodes of their zombie survival dramas to share on YouTube. They call it their “Talked About Scene” and this week it was a sequence showing Nick walking among the dead with some armed men looking to take out the zombies.
Here is that talked about scene as hosted on the official YouTube account of AMC:
During this scene, Nick was continuing his walk with the zombies to Tijuana. However, the road became blocked by several men with guns who were looking to clear out all the zombies in their way.

While much of this scene is based on the walkers closing in on the men fast enough that they couldn’t get away or reload their guns in time, the real thing here was the look on the face of one of the men shooting the walkers.
When he saw that there was a human being among the walkers, the stopped dead in his tracks. He lowered his sunglasses to get a better look at Nick, and that distraction, along with dropping his ammunition magazine, ended up doing him in. This, combined with Luciana’s discussion about people walking amongst the dead, should make fans wonder if there is something more to Nick’s camouflage in the mythos of Mexico.
This scene was entertaining, but perhaps the most talked about scene from this episode involved Nick and the Walkers and their interaction with some dogs. However, that was not the scene that AMC chose to feature this week, instead going for Nick walking among the dead.
