A darker version of Travis could help Fear The Walking Dead
By Adam Carlson
Fear The Walking Dead could become an even stronger show if Travis can emerge as a more capable survivor on the AMC zombie apocalypse drama.
One character who has frustrated fans of Fear The Walking Dead to this point in Travis Manawa. His desire to cling to the old ways of life have left him behind in the zombie apocalypse and made him more of a liability than an asset to the group.
However, it sounds as though there will be some huge changes coming when it comes to the demeanor of Travis in future episodes of the AMC zombie drama. Recently, TVLine sat down with showrunner Dave Erickson to talk about what may coming for the former teacher.
Right now, Travis has left everyone else behind to tend to his son, Chris. With the death and destruction around the survivors taking a major toll on Chris, Travis will need to get his mind straight before tending to his own issues.

But Travis could be in for a drastic character overhaul. If he can get stronger before returning to Madison and the other survivors, he could become a huge asset to the group. And Dave Erickson is hinting that the character could go that route.
"“We’re going to see a Travis emerging who is much darker.”"
Up to this point, we’ve seen Travis as a diplomatic man who tried to have as little death around him as possible. But tapping into a darker side may be a great change to a character with so much room to grow during Fear The Walking Dead‘s second season.
"“If he’s able to tap into that, one would argue that that may be the missing part in the relationship between [him and Madison]. It just took the apocalypse to draw them into a closer relationship, which I think is the irony we want to play with.”"
