Episode 209 of Fear the Walking Dead brings us back to La Colonia, but shows us what is happening with Strand and the girls as well.

On Los Muertos, episode 209 of Fear the Walking Dead we open with Nick. At La Colonia a little girl finds Nick and is sad about her father who apparently is infected and walks fearlessly into the wall of infected to be devoured as the people chant in Spanish that they come from death and they surrender it.

Abigail is lost. Alicia thinks to leave a message made from logs on the beach for Nick to head north. But she’s right when she told Madison he’s not looking for them. They go into a hotel after watching it for a while for infected. Strand rings the bell and when no bellhop hops, he remarks that service is sub-par, his best deadpan line since he told Nick that the person he walked by and didn’t let out of the pen was “no value add”.

The hotel was set up for a wedding. There was a cake, strings of papel picado, Ofelia reminisced about almost being married, but she had to take care of her parents. Strand makes Madison have a drink with him while Alicia and Ofelia go looking around the hotel. Alicia is fighting back at her mother’s lack of attention to her. Even with Nick gone, Madison is still focused on NIck.

We find out at the bar that Miss Madison used to be a bartender and put herself through school in Alabama. Alicia and Ofelia find some clothes and a bit of food in some of the rooms. Someone had marked the infected rooms with “Do not Disturb” signs.

Nick and Luciana go on a shopping spree in a grocery store that trades for filling up a cart. When Luciana tells Nick only water and necessities, he puts a pack of snack cakes in the waistband of his pants. We find this out when he gets tackled and the men wants to cut of his hands with a machete.

Nick wheels and deals with the man about his sister needing Oxy and gets out of having his hands cut off, gets his cakes and also gets an extra cart of water.

Madison and Strand have a drunk heart to heart down in the bar. Like many drunks at their own parties, they get loud and maudlin. They share stories, Madison breaks glasses and Strand plays the piano. Well, the infected want to join in the fun so much, when they hear the music, they start jumping out of the windows to find the party.

As we suspected, Nick took the snack cakes for the little girl whose father had walked into the walkers. Alejandro tells Nick that he’s not doing the girl any favors by giving her comfort. We find out that the group and Alejandro think they are the chosen ones for when the dead finally are finished with their journey. They will remain. It’s unclear if Alejandro was really bitten or if he’s conning the Colonia, but he has a wound on his shoulder that looks healed.
