AMC’s website has mini-stories called Radio Waves to accompany Fear the Walking Dead told through short radio transmissions.

Ever since I started watching The Walking Dead and now Fear the Walking Dead, something that has continually impressed me is their attention to detail with little extras that they do for promotion of the show that build excitement and make a connection with the fans.

I’m not sure if it’s just the age of social media and other shows are doing similar things, but I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Of course, I’ve seen billboards and commercials, but the amount of art and posters and the quality and creativity for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead is pretty astonishing.

Fear the Walking Dead has really been creative with the artistic choices for their promotional posters on Twitter. I love the newest “object” art that teases some of the things that are showing up in the episodes.

This season, Fear the Walking Dead aired a webisode series on their website and during the commercial breaks of The Walking Dead that added a back story to 2 of the characters that showed up during season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead, called Flight 462.

More from Undead Walking

Just now, I discovered that AMC has been creating short radio transmissions to accompany Fear the Walking Dead called Radio Waves.  These transmissions follow along with the idea of Alicia talking to Jack on the radio when the group was on Abigail.

The idea is that communication and reaching out to someone, sometimes anyone, would be important and revealing in a time of crisis and fear. There have been 9 transmissions so far. A few of them follow 2 people named Rachel and Devon, who know each other. The others are random people, some talking with nobody on the other end.

Here’s how AMC describes Radio Waves: “Thousands of calls for help flood the airwaves. Most will go unanswered, but not all will go unheard.”

Listen to all 9 minute-long transmissions to get a glimpse into the apocalypse from the airwaves:

I don’t think any of these transmissions will have anything to do with Fear the Walking Dead in any future episodes. I think it’s just a fun little extra that AMC is giving fans who visit the website. I’m surprised that I just found it now.

I remember a long time ago reading about Tessa and a similar radio transmission idea. Now that I found these, I went back and found Tessa in the Tweet above back in April right before the season 2 premiere.

If you enjoy these mini-stories over the radio, you can find them on the AMC website under video extras after each episode. Do you care what happens with Rachel and Devon?
