AMC’s apocalyptic zombie survival drama The Walking Dead failed to take home a single award at the 2016 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

It has become a tradition for The Walking Dead to get shut out at the Emmys. In the past, the academy often looked past the AMC zombie drama in favor of other programs when deciding who would take home awards.

However, that wasn’t always the case for the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. This is the one place where the program has found success in the past, winning awards for makeup, prosthetics, and more. Sadly, that trend ended this year.

The complete list of winners at the 2016 was shared by E! Online today, and the hit AMC survival show was nowhere to be found.

Instead of The Walking Dead being honored in the makeup, stunts, prosthetics, and other categories, programs like Game of Thrones and American Horror Story found themselves as the big winners when it came to technical awards.

This has to be considered a disappointment for AMC, since season 6 of The Walking Dead featured some of the biggest and most elaborate scenes in the series and raised the bar when it comes to future makeup, stunts, and costumes on the program.

Here is a video from the red carpet of the Creative Arts Emmys featuring nominated actress Michelle Ang from Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462 as shared by Mingle Media TV Network on YouTube:

Fans seem to have given up hope on the Emmys ever recognizing the show for its merits and have turned it into a running joke of sorts. Still, people who enjoy it will continue to enjoy the series despite it not being as popular with the critics as it is with the general public.

Maybe one day the Emmy Awards will give The Walking Dead some recognition, but for now the program will need to be content as being the most watched show on television.

The Walking Dead will return to AMC on October 23, 2016 for the season 7 premiere. During that episode, fans will discover the fate of some of their favorite characters as well as find out what will happen to the residents of Alexandria and how it will impact the future of the zombie survival drama.
