Live ratings increase by 25% for Fear The Walking Dead 211
By Adam Carlson
People are starting to tune back in to Fear The Walking Dead, which could be a sign the AMC zombie survival drama will rebound with a strong season 2 finish.
First off, this has to be stated: Fear The Walking Dead is a very good show. Despite only having a fraction of the viewership of the original AMC zombie survival drama, ratings have continued to struggle when it came to viewers tuning in live.
Then, something strange happened. One of the least action-packed and dramatic episodes in the series (episode 211 ‘Pablo & Jessica’) saw the live viewership jump from a 1.2 rating to a 1.5 according to TV By The Numbers. What caused this large increase in fans tuning in?
Maybe people are finally hearing that Fear The Walking Dead is a good show! By now, word has to be spreading about the crazy situations these survivors are getting in while surviving the apocalypse in Mexico, but it isn’t like there wasn’t a ton of competition facing the series on Sunday, September 11, 2016.
Here is a quick list of some of the programs Fear The Walking Dead went up against in the 9 pm ET time slot that day:
More from Undead Walking
- Walking Dead alum Jayson Warner Smith promotes new film, Chipper, watch it now
- Walking Dead actor Chandler Riggs filming new movie in Tampa Bay
- Why is there no season 12 of The Walking Dead?
- Will Morgan Jones find Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live spinoff?
- Watch Tales of TWD actress Jillian Bell in Prime Video’s Candy Cane Lane
- WWE Backlash pay-per-view
- Sunday Night Football (Steelers @ Redskins)
- Rob & Chyna (series debut)
- American Dad
- The Incredibles (movie)
Fear The Walking Dead does have the relief of not going head-to-head against huge rating draws like HBO’s Game of Thrones or the MTV Music Video Awards, but with the return of the NFL season and the debut of regular season NFL football on Sunday nights, an increase of 25% of their live viewing audience has to be a very pleasant surprise for AMC.
This was desperately needed for the zombie program, as last week’s 1.2 live viewership rating was the series low and had many fans and media outlets concerned about the future of the series moving forward.

Thankfully, there are still a lot of people watching on DVR or replay when it comes to Fear The Walking Dead. It seems like every week there is one delayed viewer for every live viewer. If that is the case, the program could net a 3.0 or better overall rating for the first time. Unofficially, Wikipedia is reporting an overall ratings of 3.4 for the episode, which will hopefully lead to the series continuing to increase viewership as the series approaches the season 2 finale.
