Fear The Walking Dead: Who died in Pillar of Salt?

Did everyone make it out of Fear The Walking Dead S2E12 alive?  Who had the closest call?

‘Pillar of Salt brings us some “dicey” moments (think Strand and a set of Ginsu knives!) Lives were threatened and relationships strained. It’s time for our weekly review of who and what we lost on the latest installment of Fear The Walking Dead.

Come on ‘Ilene’

Please tell me you’re old enough for that 80’s song reference!  It was Ilene, mother of the bride, who almost killed our beloved Strand with a knife to the gut as he responded to her knock at the door.

We cannot be certain that Strand is out of the woods yet, but Ilene is on lock down indefinitely per Madison’s insistence.  Madison and Elena acquired medication that we hope will ward off infection to Victor’s wound.  But Madison’s behavior on the medicine run may have endangered even more survivors.

A dangerous bargain

While at the supermercado trading for medication, Madison overhears Marco yelling and asks Elena to translate. When she hears mention of a gringo with ratty hair, she swiftly interrupts the interrogation, despite Elena’s objections.

While it could be any young man to whom they are referring, I do believe Madison has some sort of sixth sense when it comes to Nick.  Either that or she’s never cut the cord.  Alicia is probably inclined to think the latter.

At any rate, Madison keeps asking about Nick. Are you talking about Nick? Where is he? Is he safe? Elena continues to tell Madison that they must leave or they will be killed.  They make it out alive and back to the Rosarito Beach Hotel, but not before Marco so eloquently threatens to cut off someone’s balls.

Francisco and family

Of course, the two being interrogated were Francisco, and his wife, Ana, who recently escaped the colonia with their sick daughter.  It appears that Ana, a mother herself, wants to tell Madison about Nick, but Francisco urges her to keep quiet. These two are under an enormous amount of duress.

While desperate for his daughter’s return, it seems that Francisco still wants to protect those in the colonia from Marco finding them.  But I assume that their daughter’s safety takes priority as we later see Marco and Antonio peering through binoculars at the colonia from a distance. A confrontation looks inevitable. And we still do not know the final fate Francisco and his family.

O”feel”ia

Yep, Ofelia has the feels, and is headed back to the states to search for Will and the love she sacrificed for what she thought was her parents’ well being. Interestingly, she seems to be handling the threat level pretty well, confidently taking out one of the infected with a hammer.  She has stocked up on supplies and gasoline.  But she is alone, and we know that can be dangerous (unless you are Nick, right?!)

Final count – 0

Thankfully, we did not actually lose anyone in tonight’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead.  But we were on high alert on more than one occasion.  Family ties and emotion seem to be the driving force behind some dangerous decisions.

We have Ilene stabbing Victor because she is consumed with the loss of her daughter.  Madison is flashing a “come and get us” sign for all to see in her desperation to reunite with Nick.  Ofelia is willing to fight the zombie apocalypse solo in order to search for her lost love. Ain’t love grand!
