Jeffrey Dean Morgan is having too much fun playing Negan on the Walking Dead and now the cast is having a little fun at his expense.

Negan has been torturing, tormenting and generally causing trouble everywhere he goes on The Walking Dead this season and he’s smiling and laughing as he does it.

Did Jeffrey Dean Morgan think he could just come in and torture our beloved group with abandon and not suffer any consequences? You want to torture our group and you want to laugh about it? Oh, sunshine, you don’t get both!

According to Entertainment Weekly, Andrew Lincoln and the cast got to laugh and smile a little bit on set in a nice change of pace as this season they’ve been under Negan’s thumb without much to laugh about.

"“He is having way too much fun. The other day he was smiling and carrying on so much he pulled a rib muscle. He doubled down in pain. I was like, ‘Yeah, take that motherf—er!’ And it wasn’t even during a take. It was a rehearsal!”"

Norman Reedus was laughing at how much Andy enjoyed it!

"“Andy was very excited that he hurt his rib and very excited that Jeffrey hurt himself. He was really into that.”"

Of course, Andrew would never laugh at true pain, he was teasing. And Jeffrey was laughing, too. Here’s JDM’s version of the story:

"“I’ve been fighting cramps. I get horrible cramps midway through a scene, my ribs will cramp up or my legs or something. So I just had this contraction and I was trying to yell, and it made me buckle over. I was screaming at him and laughing at the same time. So I’m still laughing, and he thought it was hilarious. He’s like, ‘That’s what you get, you f—er! That’s what you get!’”"

“No one went to help him. We just went, ‘There you go. Suck it up, sunshine!’”

It’s fun to hear about the behind the scenes antics. It’s great to see JDM on interviews and Talking Dead and see him hugging everyone and laughing with the rest of the cast. But The Walking Dead cast needs to dig deep sometimes in their acting. Jeffrey Dean Morgan mention that as well.

"Yeah, it kills him that I’m having so much fun. I’m like, ‘It’s not me, Andy, that’s having fun — it’s Negan!’ But I mean, there’s a lot of that that goes back and forth in between takes, depending on the scene, of course. But there are other scenes that are so intense that there are days that the cast doesn’t even make eye contact until the end of the day, and I get it.”"
