The Walking Dead lands 4 People’s Choice Award nominations

The hit AMC zombie drama The Walking Dead has been nominated in four categories for awards at the People’s Choice Awards 2017 including Favorite TV Show.
Historically, The Walking Dead doesn’t do very well at awards shows. Despite being the most popular show on television, it rarely receives the kind of recognition it deserves from critics or other awards programs.
Thankfully, one awards show always seems to give the hit zombie drama a fair chance at bringing home some hardware: The People’s Choice Awards. For 2017, that trend has continued, as the show and its actors were nominated in four categories.
AMC’s ratings juggernaut will face some tough competition in their categories, but their nominations in major categories will give the program a chance to prove that it deserves recognition from other awards shows.
Here are the categories and competition in the categories where The Walking Dead received nominations at the People’s Choice Awards 2017 according to the list of nominees on the awards program’s official website:

The big one here, of course, is the Favorite TV Show category. Since the votes of fans can make the difference between winning and losing each of the nominations, winning the biggest TV prize would be huge. That also means the program should win the specialized Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show category as well.
Individual recognition for Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan are both well deserved as well. Lincoln’s work as Rick Grimes and Cohan’s performance as Maggie Greene are two of the big reasons why the show is as popular as it is.
