Maggie has been missing from the episodes since the season premiere when Glenn died. But “Go Getters” proved that Maggie Rhee is stronger than ever and intent on taking Negan down.

Since the season premiere of The Walking Dead Maggie and Sasha have been at Hilltop recovering from the brutal deaths of Glenn and Abe. Fans have waited anxiously to find out how Maggie and Sasha were dealing with their grief. Fans also wanted to know if Glenn and Maggie’s baby was ok after the trauma Maggie suffered in the premiere. Thankfully Baby Rhee is fine. But, Maggie and Sasha are going to stay at Hilltop where Maggie can be close to Dr. Carson in case she has any more complications.

There were a lot of bittersweet moments in this episode. Sasha and Maggie are bonded forever now in their grief. Fans grieved with them as they paid tribute to Glenn and Abe at their grave sites. Maggie laid Hershel’s watch, a beloved symbol of both Hershel and Glenn, in the dirt on Glenn’s grave.

But there was no time for grief when the Saviors attacked Hilltop colony. Maggie, never one to fall apart when things needed to be done, got the job done in an epic fashion. The car playing music to attract walkers was welded shut by the Saviors so that it couldn’t be turned off. To stop the threat Maggie, the farmer’s daughter, drove a tractor over it.

Maggie Rhee

Even in the world of The Walking Dead Maggie has a lot. She lost her home and her entire family, and now her husband. But even after Glenn’s death Maggie was the first one to ask how they were going to kill Negan and fight the Saviors. Rick at this point is broken. He’s lost his will to fight back, for now. Sasha and Maggie haven’t. Their loss and grief has made them stronger and now they are determined to do whatever it takes to bring Negan down.

Sasha is already plotting to find out where Sanctuary is so that she, Jesus and Maggie can take him out. Maggie proved that she’s got what it takes to lead at Hilltop. In a few delightful scenes in “Go Getters” she made it clear to Gregory that she’s not going to put up with his self-indulgent shenanigans. Easily the best scene in “Go Getters” is when Maggie notices Gregory has Glenn’s watch. First Maggie punches him in the face. Then she takes the watch back. She calls him out on his inability to remember her name and tells him that  her name is Maggie. Maggie Rhee. And fans everywhere cheered.

The Road Ahead

No one lives forever in The Walking Dead. Maggie could have let the loss of Glenn destroy her but she is back and stronger than ever. Glenn once told Enid, “You honor the dead by going on. Even if you’re scared. You live, because they don’t get to.”  Maggie is going to live, whatever it takes, for Glenn and Baby Rhee. Negan may have temporarily broken Rick, but he never even noticed the other threat to his rule. Maggie, Sasha, Michonne and the fierce women of The Walking Dead are a force to be reckoned with. Now they’re gunning for Negan and he’s going to find out pretty quickly how strong the women of Team Family are.
