The Walking Dead ratings are just fine, despite reports about dropping numbers. When all the views are counted the show is still leading the cable TV ratings.

Hold steady The Walking Dead fans. There is nothing wrong with the ratings of AMC’s zombie drama. The fourth episode of the seventh season, “Service” had 11.4 million viewers during the live broadcast. Media outlets were quick to jump on that figure and claim the program is dying. But, now that the Live+3 views are in it’s clear that The Walking Dead is still pulling in enough views to reign over Sunday night TV.

The Live+3 views, which count all the DVR, On Demand and streaming views of the show as well as the viewer who watched it on Sunday, show a steady increase. The Walking Dead picked up another 4 million views in the Live+3 ratings. It finished with a total of 15.7 million views. That puts The Walking Dead back in first place by a wide margin. It even beat Election Night news coverage.  When the Live+7 data becomes available it’s a pretty safe bet that the ratings will increase even more.

So, fans should not despair. The show is still a ratings juggernaut, even if it seems that ratings are down. The live broadcast viewer number doesn’t tell the whole story when it comes to ratings.

“Go Getters” Ratings

The live viewer ratings for “Go Getters”, the fifth episode of the season, have dipped again to just about 11 million viewers. The previous episode, “Service” has about 11.4 million live viewers when it aired on Sunday night.

There was a dramatic increase in the numbers for every episode this season when the Live+3 and Live+7 data is counted. So even though the ratings for “Go Getters” seem bad it’s not a cause for concern.

When the additional views for DVR, streaming and On Demand are counted there will be a dramatic increase in the viewer numbers.

Next: The truth behind The Walking Dead's ratings

When you’re looking at media outlets claiming that The Walking Dead ratings indicate the show has lost fans and is heading towards a quick end, don’t panic. Remember that most genre shows on cable are lucky to score ratings in the 1-3 million range. Even with a dip in live broadcast ratings The Walking Dead is still 2-3 times more popular than any other genre show. And if you want to help out the ratings you can always watch “Go Getters” again On Demand or stream it from AMC.
