Walker Stalker Con: Lorenzo Henrie gives hugs for charity

Lorenzo Henrie, who portrayed Chris on Fear The Walking Dead, returns to Walker Stalker Con in Charlotte December 17-18. Also returning are his fabulous $5 hugs for charity.

Attendees of Walker Stalker Con Charlotte can visit Lorenzo Henrie’s table for a warm $5 hug. And this is not just a good deal for fans. Lorenzo uses funds raised from the hugs to benefit a different charity after each convention.

Lorenzo started the fun-loving charity campaign at Walker Stalker Con Atlanta and looks forward to making it a regular event at conventions going forward.  He kindly gave me some background on the idea and how the funds have been spent to help others thus far.

Here’s what I learned.

How did the idea for the $5 hugs for charity come to you?

"“The idea came to me because I figured most people are willing to pay [a few] bucks for a hug from a celebrity at these events rather an expensive signature. I wanted an alternative for fans to interact with me but also give to a charitable cause in the mean time rather spend 5 bucks on a medium fry, lol!”"

Did you have a specific charity in mind right away?

"“Yes, I donated all the money to the Norbertine Sisters (nuns) in Tehachapi CA.”"

What can you tell us about the charity you have chosen and how all these hugs are helping?

"“They are completely self-sufficient and vegan. So they needed vitamins, organic supplies, etc. The Norbertine sisters are cloistered nuns devoted to giving their lives for the world, every moment of their day spending it in prayer for the world, for peace, and for the sake of every human. I think they’re what’s keeping humanity sane, lol! They also make AMAZING cheeses that sell at Whole Foods. They are some holy women I tell ya.”"

Lorenzo has not yet revealed which charity will be the beneficiary of $5 hugs at Walker Stalker Con Charlotte. He plans to select a different cause for each event.
