The Walking Dead star Sonequa Martin-Green and husband went with America’s Voices in Israel to help dispel misconceptions about what the country is like.

For people who don’t travel much, it is difficult to get a good idea of what other cultures and countries are like. Since the only real exposure those individuals can get is through television, films, and social media, they are often left with only negative impressions of these places. Thankfully, two actors from The Walking Dead are helping to dispel the myths of one particular location.

Sonequa Martin-Green and her husband Kenric Green should be familiar to fans of AMC’s hit zombie survival series. Sonequa is a regular on the program with her role of Sasha, while her husband played a short-lived character named Scott. But now that the filming of the show is on break and their other projects are on hold, they are doing something good for the benefit of Israel.

The two actors are participating in a program called America’s Voices in Israel, which enlists the help of celebrities, political figures, religious figures, and other diplomats to visit the country and document their stay on social media.

Here is how the program uses these people of influence to help correct some misconceptions about what Israel is like:

"“Using traditional and social media, they offer firsthand accounts of experiences in Israel, engaging large and ethnically diverse audiences. Their positive stories about Israel counter distortions and misrepresentations about the Jewish State, which often are reported in the media. Millions have read Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram posts from our influential guests, both during and after their visits to Israel.”"

The Walking Dead‘s Sonequa Martin-Green and her husband were only part of the group headed over there. According to jpost.com, Mark Pelligrino (Dexter, Lost), Meagan Good (Think Like A Man, Anchorman 2), Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii 5-0, Lost) and others took the trip.

This is a fun program to not only spread awareness about Israel, but give some more insight into the lives of these celebrities. Fans of The Walking Dead might not ever get to visit Israel, but now they can learn more about it from some actors who appear on the program.
