Decision Making

Both Rick and Negan have had to make some tough decisions. For any leader it can be hard to make decisions that are going to have an impact on the entire community. Every leader gets it wrong sometime.

Rick’s worst decision-making fail was attacking the Saviors outpost without any kind of reconnaissance first. The Atlanta Survivors went into that situation blind. Their slaughter of the Saviors kicked off a disastrous chain of events that has had some pretty serious consequences for Alexandria.

But Rick has made some good decisions too. His decisions are always made with the welfare of the group in mind. He would not have moved forward with the attack on the survivors if the community hadn’t been in dire need of food and supplies. Everything he does is for the good of the community.

Negan, on the other hand, makes decisions based on the desire to maintain control. He doesn’t really have the best interests of the community in mind when he makes decisions. He operates solely from a desire to keep his power and control.

He doesn’t make rash decisions. Every decision he makes has a certain logic to it. But, ultimately he’s a leader that is more concerned with his own position than the good of the group. Negan’s focus on himself leads him to make decisions based on self-interest.

So when it comes to decision-making Rick is the better leader. Everything he does, even when he’s wrong, is for the good of the people following him and not himself.
