Supporting The Team
A good leader has to support the team that they put together. Trusting the team, delegating responsibilities, and providing support are skills that every good leader should have.
Negan doesn’t support his people very well. Sure, he makes sure they have the things they need to survive. But he changes the rules on them often, whenever it suits him. He never lets any of the Saviors forget that he is in charge. He expects them to do his bidding without question.
Rick, on the other hand, is very supportive of the survivors. Rick is a reluctant leader. He treats everyone on his team as an equal. He listens to them. He takes their advice, most of the time. He provides the emotional support they need to do the jobs he needs them to do. He cares about them.
Negan has favorites among the Saviors, but ultimately they are all expendable to him. The only person that Negan truly cares about is himself. He will do whatever it takes to hold onto his power. He doesn’t care about the people he depends on to keep Sanctuary safe.
Rick excels at supporting his team and bringing out the best in the survivors of Alexandria. Even though some of the Alexandrians still don’t trust him he still values them. There is no doubt that Rick supports his team more than Negan does.
