The road to all out war between The Saviors and the Survivors on The Walking Dead

Until around the middle of The Walking Dead Season 6 the Survivors had no idea who the Saviors were or who Negan was. Now they’re ready to launch an all out war against them. Let’s take a look back at all the times the Survivors and the Saviors faced off before the war.

It’s a little surprising that a group as large and as organized as the Saviors never found the Alexandria Safe Zone before they did in season 6 of The Walking Dead. They seem to have found all the other communities in the area, but no one at Alexandria knew about the Saviors until Daryl ran into Dwight, Sherry and Tina in the woods.

Once that event happened the Survivors kept crossing paths with the Saviors in one way or another until the organized slaughter at the outpost. Then Rick and the group were definitely on Negan’s radar.

One of Rick’s biggest mistakes was not doing any kind of surveillance to see how many people the Saviors had before attacking the outpost.Alexandria would probably still be under Negan’s control, but Glenn and Abe might have lived.

The Saviors are organized and very capable fighters. They’re probably the best fighters that the Survivors have gone up against.

The people from Woodbury were not really fighters. Terminus was taken out by Carol. And the Survivors were easily able to conquer the Wolves.

But the Saviors are different. From the first time they appeared they showed that they were well-trained fighters that wouldn’t back down from a fight.

The only reason that Rick and the group were able to take out so many Saviors is because they surprised them while they were sleeping. That’s not going to work a second time, so Rick better have a new strategy up his sleeve for the upcoming war.
