After Abe and Glenn were killed by Lucille in The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere Negan gave Rick a few days to start preparing supplies. He took a big contingent of Saviors to Alexandria to go through the houses and take whatever items they could find that the Saviors could use. One of his lieutenants, Arat, bullied Olivia and wanted to kill her, but was stopped by Negan.

However, a few episodes later in the midseason finale, “Hearts Still Beating” Arat does kill Olivia. Negan also kills Spencer. After the events in “Hearts Still Beating” unfold Rick knows that Michonne is right and that they have to go to war against the Saviors.

He, Michonne, Carl and the other Survivors head to Hilltop Colony to see Maggie. They find Maggie and are happy that Baby Rhee is fine.

They also are reunited with Daryl, who escaped from Sanctuary. So the road to all out war began at Hilltop when Rick agreed to slaughter the Saviors and it ends there too.

Now Rick and the Survivors will be doing everything they can to get the support of Hilltop and the Kingdom so that they can hopefully bring down Negan and The Saviors once and for all when season 7 of The Walking Dead returns this February.
