Filming for FTWD Season 3 has begun: Why we’re excited

Filming has begun on the third season of Fear the Walking Dead and there is a lot to be excited about.

It has been a long buildup with Fear the Walking Dead. Now that production has started on Season 3 it’s time to get excited about meeting up once again with the Clark-Manawa clan, Strand, and others we have met along the way. Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd is excited about the upcoming season of Fear the Walking Dead, and so are we.

Madison has her hands full now that the family has been expelled from the resort after Travis’s meltdown. Alicia is with her and their relationship is tenuous at best, especially now that Madison has renewed hope that Nick is still alive.

Will Madison reunite with Nick in Season 3? The last time we saw Nick he was in a shootout at the Mexican border on the way back into San Diego. If Nick and Madison are able to find each other, then what happens with Alicia? Madison and Alicia were trying to mend their relationship after some major revelations about Alicia’s father and why Madison feels that she has to watch over Nick so much more than Alicia. However, all of the ground they gained was lost as soon as Madison learned that Nick was alive. Alicia was happy at the resort, and now everything has been thrown into complete upheaval. Will she continue to follow her mother or will she strike out on her own?

There’s also the not-so-small matter of Travis and his breakdown. Up until this point, Travis has championed ethics and morality in the apocalypse, even as his son was falling apart at the seams. Upon learning that Chris was dead, the dam broke loose and Travis unleashed his rage upon the boys that killed Chris. That led to the accidental death of a bystander, which led to their ouster from the hotel. (Based upon Madison’s own rules, no less)

Not only does Madison need to focus on finding Nick, but she has to worry about Travis flipping out and she also needs to worry about losing Alicia. Add to that the need to find shelter, and Madison has a lot on her hands. The third season will no doubt put Madison’s strength to the ultimate test.

What will happen with Nick and his friends at the border? Will they make it through or will they have to find a new place to call home? We’re also wondering what will happen with Strand back at the resort, and whether we’ll meet up with Ofelia again. And what of Daniel Salazar, who may or may not have perished back at the Abigail plantation?

Clearly there are several questions that remain going into the third season of Fear the Walking Dead, and we can’t wait to see what happens.
