9. Familiarize yourself with your surroundings.

This might be one of the most important things you can do to help yourself survive in a zombie apocalypse.

Think about it: If you’re being chased by zombies, how long do you think you’ll survive if you don’t know where you’re going? Probably not very long.

With the possibility that you’ll have to flee from zombies (Not just stay away from where they might be, but, literally run away from them), knowing where you’re going is crucial. Especially with electricity probably cutting out on you, you won’t be able to rely on your smartphone to tell you where to go.

You need to be able to know where you’re going, what barriers you’ll encounter, what might be the best places to find shelter, and, you’ll need to be able to do it without having to stop and check. This means you’ll need to learn to memorize your area and where you would go in it should things go awry.

Additionally, with it possible that you may be in a place you’re not normally familiar with (If you’re vacationing, etc.) it wouldn’t hurt to familiarize yourself with the places you’re most likely to visit so you’re not caught with your pants down.
