Fear the Walking Dead has started production on Season 3 and Danay Garcia’s Luciana talks about her return to the show after a thrilling Season 2 cliffhanger.

When we last saw Fear the Walking Dead’s Luciana, she had been shot while helping Nick to bring their community across the border into the United States. Little did they know, there were trigger happy people guarding the US-Mexican border and they were trying to keep anyone from coming across the border from Mexico. The ambush took out several members of La Colonia, but there are several people left. That’s where Season 3 will pick up.

Garcia talks about how the season finale will impact Luciana moving forward. “I think it’s massive obviously,” Garcia told Comicbook.com, “and anything that has to do with an apocalypse, the moment you’re settled in, that’s when everything ends. Yeah, the fact that I got shot, I think obviously I’m going to recover and obviously I’m going to be affected by these people that had killed some of my people. Some are run away and some of them are dead. This huge massive issue of resentment toward them because, first of all, I don’t know who they are. They are not my family. I’ve never seen them. Nick has never seen them. They are complete strangers that just took over our existence, and I’m very interested in seeing how she is going to deal with this because this is a completely different animal.”

Garcia mentions the fact that the armed militia at the border is comprised of Americans trying to keep the border secure. At this point in the apocalypse it’s early enough to where people think these things are important. If you recall back to the start of the second season, the passengers of the Abigail had to sneak into Mexico because the Mexican army was protecting the beach.

More from Undead Walking

There’s no question that Luciana’s presence will be a huge benefit for Nick as they work together to try to take La Colonia to safety. She has a lot more experience than Nick does, and together they are a much better team than they are operating alone.

Fear the Walking Dead returns for its third season later in 2017.
