AMC’s zombie drama The Walking Dead brought home a big win at the 2017 People’s Choice Awards, being named the Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show.

The Walking Dead isn’t a show that wins a lot of big awards despite being one of the most popular programs on television, but every once in a while it gets recognized for being the fantastic show that it is.

That was the case at the 2017 People’s Choice Awards that were held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. The show was nominated in several categories, but brought home one big win in a category against tough competition.

According to the official People’s Choice website, AMC’s zombie survival show was named the Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show. Here is the tough competition they were up against in the category:

  • American Horror Story
  • Orphan Black
  • Shadowhunters
  • Teen Wolf
  • The Walking Dead (WINNER)

Hopefully, this win will get the ball rolling for the show during awards season. However, even if it doesn’t, AMC’s zombie drama has such a passionate fan base and huge following that the awards are just icing on the undead cake.

Still, this win proves the passion of fans voting for the show to win. When it comes to being popular, programs don’t get much more love than AMC’s zombie drama.
