The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero shares epic Star Wars mashup on his Instagram account. Let’s hope Negan isn’t Judith’s father…

Greg Nicotero is the guru of special effects on The Walking Dead. He also appreciates a good Walking Dead mashup.

Nicotero shared a post on his Instagram account that blends an iconic scene from the season premiere of The Walking Dead with Star Wars. Negan has been replaced by another pop culture icon: Darth Vader. The image, a drawing by artist Robert Shane, shows Darth Vader standing in front of two Rebellion pilots that are kneeling before him. He’s wearing Negan’s red handkerchief around his neck, and he has Lucille on deck, resting on his shoulder.

Clearly, there are quite a few Star Wars fans on the set of The Walking Dead. In a recent interview Executive Producer Tom Luse referred to Rick and his group as the Rebel Alliance battling the Empire, a classic Star Wars reference that rings true in this case of a bunch of underdogs taking on the Big Bad Empire, or in this case, the Saviors.

Comparing The Walking Dead to Star Wars is nothing new, and it makes so much sense when you think of the common themes of perseverance and beating the odds. There are several parallels that can be drawn between the fight between Rick and the Saviors and the fight seen in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Darth Vader wielding Lucille is terrifying, but just imagine Negan with Kylo Ren’s light saber…. “Judith, I am your–” Well, you know.
