The second half of The Walking Dead’s seventh season continues the trend of extended episodes. So far the first three episodes are confirmed to have longer run times.

The Walking Dead will continue the trend of having longer episodes during the second half of Season 7. The first three episodes of 7B have been confirmed to have extended run times.

With 16 episodes to a season, The Walking Dead fans are eager for as much Dead as possible. Season 7 signaled a shift to episodes featuring extended run times, allowing for even more action by spilling over the 60 minute mark.

So far we know that episode 709, “Rock in the Road,” will have a 73 minute run time and will be directed by Greg Nicotero. From what we know from the synopsis, Rick will meet members of another community, and that community is presumed to be The Kingdom.

Episode 710 will run an extra six minutes for a total of 66 minutes, with Jeffrey F. January at the helm. The third episode of the second half of the season, episode 711, will have a 68 minute run time with Kari Skogland as the director. Greg Nicotero returns to direct episode 712, and we don’t know yet whether this episode will also feature an extended run time.

Longer episodes are a good thing when it comes to The Walking Dead, however they’re not a good thing for Talking Dead. While the longest overage amounts to thirteen minutes, these extra minutes will push back the start time for AMC’s Into the Badlands, which will be sandwiched between The Walking Dead and Talking Dead.
