Michonne has been ready to go after Negan since the season 7 premiere. Rick lost his way and lost his spirit after the events that happened early in the season. But Michonne has been quietly gathering strength and planning for this fight all along.

Now that Rick has realized that she and Maggie and Sasha were right and that the only way to be free is to battle Negan and the Saviors head on he will need her. The women of The Walking Dead never shy away from a fight. And they are going to be critically important to Rick in this war.

Michonne knows where Sanctuary is so she would be the perfect choice to do some surveillance on the Saviors. This time when Rick attacks the Saviors he needs to know something about them before he attacks. He can’t afford to repeat the mistakes that he made when he attacked the outpost.

Michonne is a fierce fighter. But Rick is going to need her support as much as he needs her sword in this fight. He can’t afford to become crippled by doubt or guilt. Michonne will keep him on track and keep him focused. That’s the only way that the survivors will be able to be victorious in this war.
