In a zombie apocalypse, as civilization crumbles, some will be tempted to go off the cliff with it; to feed our darkest desires. That way yields death.

Societal collapse is…frankly inevitable in a zombie apocalypse. Law enforcement and military personnel will likely die trying to contain the outbreak; In the chaos and with their inability to stop it, faith in governments will erode.

In the aftermath of this sad turn of events, the worst elements of society will emerge, now (In their minds) free from consequences.

This means criminals, both known and unknown, will attempt to do whatever they want, and satisfy their basest desires. I imagine the basest of them will be…

Lust

Let’s be honest with ourselves here: In order for us to survive as a species, we need to have sex — It’s simple biology. If we want to stave off extinction in a zombie apocalypse, we need to ensure there are future generations to carry on after the zombies are gone. Sex is the only way to achieve that.

However, when one is using sex as a weapon of terror, or to forcefully satiate one’s own lust, i.e. rape, you are almost inevitably writing your own death warrant.

Why? Well, if you’re in a world where there is no law and order anymore, what do you think happens to those who commit violent crimes, like rape?

Whatever the punishment is, imagine it being far more brutal than what such criminals face right now.

Case in point: Randall’s group.

Do you recall what was it that made Rick shutdown his conversation with Dave and Tony?

While they seemed interested in supplies, it was Tony’s comment of: “I haven’t had a piece of ass in weeks.”

That was what confirmed for Rick that neither Dave nor Tony were someone he wanted having any idea about The Group or where Hershel’s farm was.

Not long after that statement, Rick gunned down both of them. He knew what they were after, and, after Tony’s outburst, he knew what they’d do to get it.

Now, Dave and Tony, at least so far as Rick knew, hadn’t raped anyone, but, Rick clearly suspected they were the kind of guys who would. For that…he ventilated them with his magnum.

The story of Dave and Tony is simply what happened to those whom otherwise normal people suspected intended to rape, should people find those who have, expect the consequences to be far worse.

Let’s look at the rest of Randall’s group (As far as I’m concerned, anyways), for a moment.

The Crazy Man and his minions, after Dave and Tony’s demise, found Terminus. Though greeted warmly, the thugs did not return the gesture.

For an indeterminate amount of time, the gang participated in an orgy of murder and, especially, rape, which they reveled in.

Eventually, Gareth and his community, somehow, regained control and set about repaying The Crazy Man and his goons for their depravities.

And, that repayment was a monstrous one.

By the time Rick and company deal with Terminus, they have become cannibals, eating anyone who won’t join them in the feast.

Also, as The Group is fleeing, Rick (At Glenn’s insistence) releases a prisoner from one of many boxcars at Terminus.

Inside, his face dotted with tattoos, a beard down to his chest, is a lone man. The Crazy Man raves “We’re the same!” before walkers swarm him.

We don’t know the whole story.  However, it seems likely the reason he was alone was that…he was the last one. The Crazy Man watched while each of his men were dragged away; not be raped…but to be eaten. Obviously this knowledge, combined with increasing solitude and the fear of it happening to him drove him insane.

The Crazy Man wrought misery upon the Termites…only to have turned back on him, tenfold. That is the fate of people like him. If only he and his cronies could have kept it in their pants.
