Many fans of The Walking Dead logged into AMC’s live stream site only to find that the site was acting rather peculiar this evening.

It’s something that happens during Game of Thrones on a regular basis. The HBO GO and HBO Now sites often crash during busy traffic times like the season premiere and the season finale. Tonight it looks like AMC’s site stole a page from the Game of Thrones playbook as many fans logged into the AMC streaming site to watch The Walking Dead only to experience glitches.

During tonight’s midseason premiere of The Walking Dead, the AMC live stream website cut out every few moments for many viewers. The audio skipped every few moments and the site froze for many minutes on numerous occasions, inciting frustration from fans across social media.

Imagine fans’ frustration sitting down to watch the show only to have it stop working in the middle of the episode. My feed stopped in several places, including when Jesus first tells Rick about the Kingdom and when Ezekiel was about to give Rick his decision. And let’s not even talk about whatever happened to the Walkers. I have no idea what happened.

As someone who lives on the West Coast, the AMC feed is critical because it airs on East Coast time and that means the show won’t be spoiled for me while everyone three hours ahead of me watch it and talk about it on social media. There’s also the matter of viewers on the East Coast who don’t have televisions and watch everything online. You have to enter your cable subscription information in order to watch, so it’s not like you’re watching The Walking Dead on some bootleg site.

On the other hand, it’s nice to know that The Walking Dead and HBO juggernaut Game of Thrones have similar streaming problems. If they can break the live stream service, it means that tons of people are logging in to watch, and ratings are everything.

If we get any more information about the streaming outages we’ll post it here.
