#4. Why did Daryl abandon The Kingdom?

It was a fantastic moment when Daryl broke free from his cell at The Sanctuary and made his way back home to Alexandria. But that moment was short-lived, as the survivors needed to figure out what to do with him.

He couldn’t stay in Alexandria, since The Saviors would easily find him there. Keeping him at The Hilltop was risky, as Negan’s men have full access to that area. Having him stay at The Kingdom was the ‘smart move’, as Rick said.

But Daryl went against Rick’s wishes to stay there and try to persuade Ezekiel to join the fight. He also left Richard, who was plotting to use Carol as a pawn in the war against The Saviors. His exit from The Kingdom is a confusing one.

Not only is he going against Rick’s wishes, but he’s putting The Hilltop in danger and leaving The Kingdom up in the air as to their future in the war. He will have some explaining to do, and it will be interesting to see how he justifies his actions.
