The Walking Dead: Exclusive interview with Oceanside’s Beatrice, actor Briana Venskus
I wanted to ask you about the set. It’s called the Oceanside Cabin Motor Court. Is that where people (when it was functional) come up in their RV, but they get to stay in actual buildings? What exactly is a cabin motor court?
"Briana: “Okay, so the way that it was laid out, I think it was more like a camp situation, but you could actually roll up and park your RV and then you had cabins. Each cabin had its own bed. So, it was kind of like a cabin in the woods but also like a motel at the same time. They had a swimming pool. It was a very lovely.”"
Is that the type of place that, if it was spiffed up a little bit in its original setting, you’d like to hang out or spend a couple of weeks?
"Briana: “I mean, I would go ahead and say that I wouldn’t hate spending time there.”"
How about the heat? What was that like with the clothing your were wearing?
"Briana: “Oh, goodness gracious! When we filmed that episode it was, I would say, 105 degrees with the heat index and all the humidity. So, I mean, you saw the outfits we were in. The costume girls did such an incredible job. I’m not even sure how they pulled those out of their imaginations, but it was like this incredible camouflage that was made out of fishing nets but also random clothing that they found. I had this kind of poncho situation going on (laugh) which weighed I’d say probably like 5 pounds. So, on top of it, not only do I have a long-sleeved shirt on underneath and the pants and boots, but I’m wearing a 5 pound fabric poncho. Needless to say it was little warm.”"
About your costumes, this may seem a little random did you watch Lost?
"Briana: “Totally!”"
Those clothes, your outfits, and your setting reminded me so much of “The Others” in Lost. Did that cross your mind?
"Briana: “Absolutely! Well, the funniest part is that I was on Twitter when the episode aired. And everyone was like ‘wait, am I watching Lost?’ Those were people’s comments, so it definitely had a ringing theme.”"
So it was not just me! It really gave a cool vibe.
"Briana: “Yes, it’s just so different from anything on the show before. It was very cool.”"
