The Good Stuff From 712

  1. Rick and Michonne planning for the future in the opener. Their discussions over what they need and how they will get it were great. And combining that with some scenes of their love made for a very strong opener for the episode.
  2. Rick Grimes seems more human. In the past, Rick seemed like a machine of sorts. he made tough decisions based on logic and the current situation. Now, he chuckles when strange things happen and makes some corny lines once in a while. The depth helps to make the character more relatable to fans.
  3. “It’s easier to be dead.” Father Gabriel continues to put himself and others in a good position. His talk with Rosita was a great insight into how his character has developed recently and how he could be much more valuable to Alexandria and its residents going forward.
  4.  Using Judith to work out Tara’s dilemma. Tara is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Being able to talk it out, even with someone who can’t talk back, had to be a huge help for her. Promises seem to mean a lot to her, and breaking one for the chance to get guns has her perplexed.
  5. Honoring Glenn and other others. Rick talking to Michonne about the ‘ghosts’ that haunt him from his travels was a powerful conversation. Talking about losing more people in the war against The Saviors and affirming Michonne’s earlier message for Rick was a great turn and an amazing way to end to that part of the episode.
