#4. Why is rick so hesitant to unite the communities?

One thing that hasn’t been talked about a lot in recent episodes is what will happen after the war. Of course, if Alexandria and the others fail, The Saviors will reign supreme and make life miserable for everyone. But what if Negan’s group loses?

Michonne posed that question to Rick during this episode and it was met with an interesting response. Instead of talking about bringing everyone together to get on the same page, Rick wanted the communities to be run by their own leaders.

Despite some more pressing, Rick stood firm on not wanting to be a leader for the entire area. Fans have seen him be able to make tough decisions on the fly with the best interests of his people in mind, so why doesn’t he like that idea?

It is a lot of responsibility for one individual to take on, but leaving communities completely in the hands of people like Gregory or Jadis opens up the door for another group to possibly become the next bullies of the zombie apocalypse or go unprotected from other dangers.
