Josh Mikel on Jared

Fans enjoyed meeting Josh Mikel who plays Jared on The Walking Dead and seeing just how delightful he is in person. Jared has been causing trouble since the second episode of season 7, not only looking for fights but outright creating them.

Richard uses Jared’s history of creating trouble as part of his plan to get himself killed, in hopes of convincing King Ezekiel to rise up and fight the Saviors.

But Richard’s plans go awry when Jared decides to take out young Benjamin instead. That’s the thing about Jared — while you can count on him to cause trouble, his specific methods can be unpredictable.

I spoke with Josh about Jared’s decision to make Benjamin the victim. He also sheds light on his understanding of what may have brought Jared to this place of disrespect for human life.
