#3. Why didn’t Richard join Alexandria?

One of Richard’s biggest plans while working with King Ezekiel was to get King Ezekiel to fight against The Saviors for their freedom, even if it would mean taking some losses to members of the community.

Richard focused on appealing to Ezekiel, but could have made a much bigger impression on the king by leaving and joining up with Alexandria, who he already knew was planning on going after Negan’s men.

There wasn’t much keeping Richard in The Kingdom. He lost his family and was hiding supplies in his camper, so pledging his body to the war in front of Ezekiel would likely have made the king do a double take, even if Richard didn’t physically leave the community.

Instead, a valuable soldier in the war has been lost. Richard was a fighter and could have been a big asset to the survivors as they went against The Saviors. There had to be a better way for him to convince The Kingdom to fight than planning to sacrifice himself.
