7. Zdeno Chára

We have already established how giants can be useful in a zombie apocalypse. As well, it’s well known that hockey players are a particularly tough breed. What happens when you combine these two qualities? You get Zdeno Chára, the tallest player to ever play in the National Hockey League, standing at 6 feet 9 inches tall.

As captain on the Boston Bruins, Chára is one of the best players in the league. He has won the James Norris Memorial Trophy and competed in multiple NHL All Star games, even having a stint as captain. He won the Stanley Cup along with his team in 2011, becoming only the second European player to do so. And that’s just a small portion of his overall accomplishments in the game.

There’s an added bonus with Chára, in that he is also a polygot. This means he is very fluent in speaking many different languages. In total, Chára knows seven languages: English, Slovak, Polish, Czech, Swedish, German, and Russian. It goes to reason that you never know what kind of groups or survivors you could find in the apocalypse. If you run into, say, some Germans or Russians, Chára would be able to communicate with them.
