17. Penny

Another brutal child walker kill was Penny, The Governor’s daughter. In “Made To Suffer” Michonne finally battled The Governor. But first she finds his secret office with a wall of tanks containing walker heads. And she finds Penny’s cage. She opens the door and Penny comes out, shackled, with a bag over her head. Michonne removes the bag to find walker Penny’s hideous face with neatly brushed hair.

Michonne is in shock at seeing the little walker shackled and bound and kept in a cage. When The Governor catches Michonne in the office he goes on the defensive. He begs her not to hurt Penny. But Michonne runs her katana straight through Penny’s mouth and into her brain.

The Governor at that point has a psychotic break. He furiously attacks Michonne. She manages to blind him in one eye with her katana and escape after a brutal fight. That sets The Governor on a path that will eventually lead to the murder of Hershel and the all-out attack on the prison after The Governor kills the residents of Woodbury.

Seeing a child killed is never easy, even a walker child. Michonne’s ruthless but necessary killing of Penny is one of the most brutal walker kills for the physical attack and for the carnage that it set in motion.
