15. Courtyard Slaughter Walkers

“Internment” was a brutal episode all around. Hershel did his best to deal with the dead and comfort the dying in the isolation block of the prison. Meanwhile Rick and Carl were trying to draw off the herds that were crowding the fence. But there were too many walkers along the fence for Rick and Carl to deal with alone.

The already compromised fences fell and walkers streamed into the prison yard. Rick and Carl fell back to the security fenced courtyard area but that fence also fell. However because of the position of the courtyard the fence that fell opened up only a small entry point into the courtyard. Rick and Carl together slaughtered hundreds of walkers who were starting to pour through the opening.

When they ran out of ammo and the herd seemed like it was thinned out they went around with knives and finished off any of the walkers who weren’t shot in the head. It was a gory and very tense scene. But it was also a great scene because of the bond it created between Rick and Carl. This walker killing scene was really the first time that Rick felt like Carl was really capable of helping him keep everyone safe.
